“Geometry of Memory” Exhibition by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Burçak Balamber, Head of the Printmaking Arts Department, Opens to Art Enthusiasts
The solo exhibition titled “Geometry of Memory” by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Burçak Balamber, Head of the Department of Printmaking Arts, opened to art enthusiasts at the Balıkesir University Faculty of Fine Arts Art Gallery on June 16, 2026. The exhibition, which will remain open to visitors until July 1, 2026, consists of printmaking works that reinterpret the cultural memory of Balıkesir through contemporary production techniques.
The exhibition features artworks created by drawing upon traditional motifs unique to Balıkesir, particularly the visual elements of Yağcıbedir carpets. Forms and motifs belonging to traditional culture are re-examined through the possibilities offered by 3D printing and laser engraving technologies, transforming them into a contemporary visual language.
Bringing together the traces of the past with current production methods, “Geometry of Memory” focuses on the transformation of cultural memory within contemporary art practices, while inviting the audience to reflect on the concepts of visual memory, cultural transmission, and continuity.
