Opening Lecture of the 2025–2026 Academic Year Held at Balıkesir University Faculty of Fine Arts
Balıkesir University Faculty of Fine Arts commenced the 2025–2026 Academic Year with an opening lecture titled “What is Art?”. The lecture was held in the Faculty Art History Hall and delivered by contemporary artist Genco Gülan, one of the prominent figures in the field of contemporary art.
During the session, Gülan engaged in an interactive discussion with students and faculty members, addressing the definition of art, the evolving roles of art in today’s world, and the conceptual foundations of contemporary artistic practice. Emphasizing the importance of intellectual inquiry, experimental approaches, and critical perspective in artistic production, Gülan encouraged students to adopt a questioning mindset and innovative thinking in their creative processes.
Dean of the Faculty of Fine Arts, Prof. Dr. Selvihan Kılıç Ateş, expressed her gratitude to Genco Gülan for his valuable contribution to the opening lecture and extended her best wishes for a productive, inspiring, and art-filled academic year.
